Abstract
The present invention relates to a high density polyethylene composition, comprising (A) from 60 to 97 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the high density polyethylene composition, of a high density multimodal polyethylene copolymer having a polymer density of at least 950 kg/m<sup>3</sup> and a MFR<sub>5</sub> determined according to ISO 1133 (190 °C, 5 kg) of not more than 0.50 g/10 min, and (B) from 3 to 40 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the high density polyethylene composition, of an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene homopolymer having a nominal viscosity molecular weight Mv of 2,000,000 to 5,000,000 g/mol different from component (A); and wherein said high density multimodal polyethylene copolymer (A) comprises a copolymer of ethylene with at least one alpha olefin comonomer having from 4 to 12 carbon atoms, and said high density polyethylene composition has an MFR<sub>21</sub> of 3.0 g/10 min or less and a density of at least 958 kg/m<sup>3</sup> including pigments, if present. The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of the above high density polyethylene composition and to an article, preferably a pipe or a pipe fitting comprising the high density polyethylene composition.
