Abstract

System for determining the presence of bats in an area, comprising: - A number of ultrasonic sound detector units, ∘ configured to detect a bat sound and to store the detected sound or the detected sound-representing data together with a time stamp; wherein ∘ the detector units are distributed over the surface of the area; - A central readout device for the detector units, configured for: ∘ reading out the detected sound stored by the detector units or the detected sound-representing data together with the time stamp, and for ∘ storing the detected sounds or the detected sound-representing data of the detector units in a data storage location such as a database, together with the time stamps and with location data of the detector units; - A data processing device, ∘ for mapping the number of bat sounds on the basis of the locations within the area where they have been determined.
