Abstract

Provided is an aerosol-generating article for use in an aerosol-generating system, the aerosol-generating article comprising: an aerosol-generating segment comprising aerosol former, the aerosol-generating segment having a longitudinal direction aligned with a flowpath of the article; and an aerosol former buffer region abutting the aerosol-generating segment at a first end of the aerosol-generating segment in the longitudinal direction. The aerosol former buffer region has a length aligned with the flowpath of the article of between 0.5 and 20 mm, and the aerosol-generating segment and the aerosol former buffer region are bounded by a connecting wrapper. Either (i) the aerosol former buffer region comprises a solid substrate comprising an anti-humectant material, or (ii) the aerosol former buffer region is a void bounded by the connecting wrapper. A system comprising the aerosol-generating article and an aerosol-generating unit is also described. A use of the article and of the system is also described, as are methods of manufacture.
