Abstract

An absorbent article (20) comprising an absorbent core (28) having a first channel and a second channel (26), each channel comprising a channel bond (27) between the core wrap top layer (45) and the core wrap bottom layer (46) characterized in that the channel bond (27, Wb) is asymmetric relative to the channel width (Wc) for at least a portion (68) of the first and second channels (26), so that, during use, the channel width preferentially shrinks on a pre-determined half (63) of the channel thus increasing the volume available for the absorbent material to swell in that pre-determined half (63) of the channel (26).
