Abstract

According to one embodiment, a document processing device has a user database in which user identifications are associated with custom words and keywords to be used in a sensitive information redaction processing. A processor acquires a user identification and an electronic document, causes a text recognition processing to be performed and acquires text recognition results data. The processor then identifies a keyword and any keyword-related words in the text recognition data. The keyword-related word has a predefined positional relationship to the keyword. The keyword-related word can be added to a custom word list. A list of personal information words in the electronic document is acquired and compared to words from the text recognition data. The text recognition words are then compared to the custom word list and words that are either deemed personal information or equivalent to a custom word are set for masking.
