Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for repairing defects, such as scratches or chippings, in a direct-to-object (DTO) print, comprising at least the following steps: a) providing an object having a DTO print based on a digital design, wherein the DTO print has a defect affecting an area of the DTO print which represents an area of the digital design, b) providing a transfer film, c) printing a touch-up design onto the frontside of the transfer film, d) aligning the transfer film with the touch-up print with said area of the DTO print having the defect, thereby covering the defect in the DTO print, wherein the frontside of the transfer film is facing towards the DTO print and the backside of the transfer film is facing away from the DTO print, e) adhering a first portion of the aligned touch-up print to the inner surface of the defect in the DTO print and f) peeling off the transfer film. In another aspect, the invention provides a repair kit for repairing defects in DTO prints.
