Abstract

An impeller for a centrifugal compressor configured to compress a fluid. The compressor includes a hub and a shroud surrounding the hub. A plurality of vanes extend from the hub toward the shroud. The impeller is configured to receive the fluid in an eye defined by the hub and the shroud. A shroud inner surface of the shroud defines a plurality of riblets extending in a direction from the shroud inner surface toward an outer surface of the hub. The riblets may extend over the shroud inner surface substantially from the eye to one or more discharges of the impeller.
