Abstract

Disclosed is a spherical roller bearing, particularly for supporting a wind turbine main shaft, comprising an outer ring, an inner ring with a bore diameter of at least 499 mm, two sets of spherical rollers running on raceways, and at least one cage retaining the rollers. The cage includes at least one axial inner cage ring extending circumferentially, a first axial outer cage ring on a first axial side, and a second axial outer cage ring on the opposite side. Each outer cage ring is connected to the inner cage ring by cage bars, forming closed pockets that each receive one spherical roller of the respective roller set. The cage bars are arranged at least partially at a radial position offset from a pitch diameter. At least one retention element securely holds the rollers within the pockets.
