Abstract

Method and system for estimating the life expectancy of a train drive unit. The method comprises obtaining service working variables of the train drive unit (100), wherein said service working variables are obtained from a repository of data of a remote server including a plurality of service working variables of the train drive unit (100) collected during a real route of a train (10), calculating the life expectancy of the bearings of the gearbox using the service working variables obtained from the repository of data, and obtaining the remaining useful life (RUL) of the train drive unit (100) by deducting from the life expectancy of the bearings of the gearbox the real life consumed by the train drive unit (100).
