Abstract

According to one embodiment, an automated file processing method includes receiving an electronic document file and a request to process the electronic document file to redact sensitive information in the electronic document file. Text recognition processing is performed on the electronic document file. A masking process is executed to visibly obscure a portion of the electronic document file corresponding to text recognized in the text recognition processing. A text concealment process is executed to delete or replace text in the visibly obscured portion of the electronic document file to prevent electronic recovery or reproduction of original text in the visibly obscured portion. Then, a processed document file is generated from the electronic document file on which the masking process and the text concealment process have been executed.
