Abstract

A fuel cell stack assembly is disclosed. The fuel cell stack assembly comprises a plurality of stacked cells, each including an anode bipolar plate and a cathode bipolar plate. The anode bipolar plate has a first flow field side, while the cathode bipolar plate features a second and an opposing third flow field side. Each flow field side is containing an array of flow distributors, formed by alternating at least one column of first triads and second triads. A membrane electrode assembly is interposed between the anode's first flow field side and the cathode's second flow field side. The alternating triads within the predefined pathway enhance the uniform distribution of a first reactant fluid and a second reactant fluid across the membrane electrode assembly, enabling an efficient electrochemical reaction in the fuel stack. This configuration ensures optimal reactant utilization, enhanced performance, and improved water management within the fuel cell system.
