Abstract

A gateway computer (103/104) intercepts the communication between a particular client computer (101-c) and a server computer (102) and identifies an attribute statement ([A]) that the particular client computer (101-c) either actively forwards (REQ_TO_SERVER] to the server computer (102) or that the server computer (102) demands (DEMAND_FOR_[A]). The gateway computer (103/104) assigns weights in the identified attribute statement [A] according to the contribution of the attributes to abilities of the server computer (102). The first ability relates to the identify the particular client computer (101-c) from multiple others, and to second ability relates to the provision of a response that fits to a request of the particular client computer (101-c). Based on the weights, the gateway computer (103/104), modifies the attribute statement ([A]) to a modified attribute statement ([A]_MOD) so that the first ability is being reduced, while the second ability is being maintained.
