Abstract

An object is to provide a surgical electrode of an electrosurgical instrument used for surgery of a living tissue, the surgical electrode having a coating to which carbides of the living tissue and the like are unlikely to adhere and which has excellent adhesion, by incorporating a surface treatment coating showing a specified infrared absorption spectrum, to an end portion of the surgical electrode. In particular, even in both a condition where blood is much and a condition where protein and/or lipid are/is much, good burn resistance is exhibited. The present disclosure relates to a surgical electrode of an electrosurgical instrument used for surgery of a living tissue, wherein the surgical electrode comprises an end portion capable of emitting a high frequency, the end portion has a surface treatment coating, and the surface treatment coating has a peak (α) in a range of 950 cm<-1> to 1060 cm<-1>, a peak (β) in a range of 720 cm<-1> to 830 cm<-1>, and a peak (γ) in a range of 450 cm<-1> to 495 cm<-1> in an infrared absorption spectrum, and a ratio (β<A>/α<A>) of a peak intensity (β<A>) of the peak β to a peak intensity (α<A>) of the peak α is 0.770 to 1.040.
