Abstract

An electric construction machine 1 according to the present invention has a lower travel body 2 having a right travel device 21 and a left travel device 22 that are provided as a left/right pair and that move forward/backward independently of each other, the electric construction machine 1 being connected to an external power source via a cable 8 to be driven, the electric construction machine including: a cable reel device 6 that is provided in a rear end portion between the right travel device 21 and the left travel device 22 as the pair of the lower travel body 2, the cable reel device 6 accommodating the cable 8 in a wound state, reeling the cable 8 through forward rotation drive, unreeling the cable 8 through reverse rotation drive; and a control device 14 that controls a rotation direction of the cable reel device 6 in accordance with an operation state of the lower travel body 2.
