Abstract

An Adaptive Hot-plug System (AHS) includes a system bus including multiple lanes, one or more system-bus slots for plugging-in one or more respective hot-pluggable modules, an AHS controller, and a parent device coupled with the system bus. The AHS controller is to indicate a presence of a hot-pluggable module that is plugged into a system bus slot among the system bus slots. The parent device is to (i) retrieve, from a Non-Volatile Memory (NVM), a configuration of one or more of the lanes that are assigned to the system-bus slot, and (ii) in response to the AHS controller detecting the presence of the hot-pluggable module, apply the retrieved configuration.
