Abstract

An authentication method performed by a management apparatus for a facility that restricts users to authority holders who have been granted a predetermined authority in advance, includes: storing identification information of a proxy authority holder in a memory, the identification information being assigned to a user who has been granted proxy authority to enter the facility as the proxy authority holder on behalf of the authority holder; storing authentication information issued to the proxy authority holder for entering the facility in association with the identification information in the memory; acquiring the authentication information from the proxy authority holder by an entry restriction device provided for restricting entry into the facility; performing an authentication process for the proxy authority holder, based on the authentication information acquired by the entry restriction device; and controlling the entry restriction device, based on a result of the authentication process.
