Abstract

A marine propulsion unit (2) is described, comprising a first housing (10), a second housing (11), an interface element (12) interposed between and in contact with the first housing (10) and the second housing (11), a propeller shaft (16) configured to carry a propeller (13) and being at least partially arranged in the second housing (11) and a main shaft (17) for transferring an angular movement to the propeller shaft (16). The main shaft (17) comprises a first partial shaft (20) arranged in the first housing (10) and a second partial shaft (21) in turn having a main section (22) arranged in the second housing (11) and a first end section (23) arranged in the first housing (10). The propulsion unit (2) also comprises a coupling element (25) connected to the first partial shaft (20) and to the second partial shaft (21) and which couples the first partial shaft (20) and the second partial shaft (21) to each other. The interface element (12) and the coupling element (25) are electrically insulating.
