Abstract

Redundant control systems, methods, and techniques for providing virtual redundant transmitters for monitoring and controlling the operation of a compressor system are described. The virtual redundant transmitter can be utilized to continue to operate the compressor system in a safe manner despite failure of one or more sensors configured to sense physical parameters of an operating compressor system, and/or to determine a failure of one or more transmitters configured to transmit data from the sensors to a controller that is controlling the overall operation of the compressor system. The use of virtual redundant transmitter as part of a control system for a compressor or multi-compressor system may limit or entirely eliminate the need for secondary redundant or even triple redundant hardware.
