Abstract

According to one embodiment, a method for monitoring and controlling the energy consumption of distributed applications deployed across a data processing and communication system is described, comprising providing each module of multiple modules of the application at a respective resource location, monitoring, for each module, deployed at a respective resource location, of multiple modules of an application, an energy consumption of providing the module at the respective resource location and checking whether the energy consumption of providing the module at the resource location exceeds a predetermined energy budget of the module and, for each module of the multiple modules, in reaction to a detection that the energy consumption of the provision of the module at the respective resource location exceeds the energy budget of the module, perform one or more energy control actions to control the energy consumption for providing the application.
