Abstract
Provided is a cylinder block of an internal combustion engine that allows simplified design and allows for weight reduction while reducing the effects of thermal distortion.A cylinder block (2) of an internal combustion engine includes: a cylinder sleeve (21) cast into an outer periphery of a cylinder (20); a cylinder barrel (22) cast around an outer periphery of the cylinder sleeve (21); a water jacket (23) formed outside the cylinder barrel (22); and bolt holes (24) for at least four stud bolts disposed to surround the cylinder (20), in which, in the cylinder barrel (22), when seen in an axial direction of the cylinder (20), a wall thickness (T1) outside a chord (30) parallel to a crankshaft at a predetermined distance from a center (C1) of the cylinder is set greater than a wall thickness (T2) outside a chord (31) perpendicular to a crankshaft at a predetermined distance from the center (Cl) of the cylinder.
