Abstract
Methods for controlling an output speed of an adjustable pulley system may include selecting a desired output speed of an output shaft of the adjustable pulley system; identifying a first location along a surface representing a relationship between effective diameter of a pulley and center distance between an input shaft and output shaft of the adjustable pulley system, the first location corresponding to the desired output speed; generating a vector representative of a change along the surface between different locations representing operating configurations of the adjustable pulley system; altering one of the effective diameter of the pulley or the center distance according to vector; and changing the output speed of the output shaft from an initial output speed to the desired output speed based at least in part on the vector.
