Abstract

Method for the identification of molecular changes between homologous rows of analytes of a first sample and of a second sample different from the first sample, analyzed by using untargeted LC MS/MS experiments. The method comprises the following steps: i) identifying analytes and isotope patterns in the samples; ii) annotating said analytes, by using a spectral library, rule-based annotation or simulations; iii) calculating the change of intensity of each annotated analyte, preferably as the binary logarithm of such a ratio; iv) sorting the data of the analytes as a function of said at least one repeating structural feature and thereby identifying analytes with differential behavior within homologous rows of analytes in said samples ; v) scheduling a targeted LC MS/MS of the first and/or the second sample for the identified analytes.
