Abstract

An apparatus and method for mitigating gas line absorption of a signal transmitted via a hollow core fiber by a transmitter are described. The method comprises computing an adjustment to be made to a property of the signal, the adjustment being an adjustment to change one or more of a frequency, an amplitude, and a modulation format of the signal to reduce an impact of gas line absorption on the signal. The method further comprises configuring one or more of: the transmitter to cause the adjustment to be applied to the signal during transmission of the signal, via the hollow core fiber, by the transmitter; and a receiver configured to receive the signal transmitted via the hollow core fiber, to cause the adjustment to be applied to the signal after the receiver receives the signal.
