Abstract

The sheet system and method measures a physical property of material deposited in patterns on a sheet. A scanning sensor measures a physical property of the deposited material when traveling in a machine direction (MD). In one aspect, the speed of the moving sheet in the MD is measured against time to generate time-stamp signals. Visual images of the patterns are correlated with the time-stamp signals and the physical property measurements to generate an MD position profile which aligns the physical property measurements to the patterns on the sheet. In another aspect, the visual images of the plurality of patterns from the sheet are converted into measurement data representing positional parameters of the patterns on the sheet. The measurement data is used to adjust the speed of the sheet and the speed of the scanning sensor to modify the scanning path of the scanning sensor.
