Abstract

An image processing method includes applying an error diffusion method to M-valued input image data to output N-valued output image data, with N < M. When a value of a pixel of interest in the input image data is greater than zero and less than a predetermined value, the method further includes determining a value of a corresponding pixel of interest corresponding to the pixel of interest in the output image data to be a value other than zero based on a value of a surrounding pixel around the corresponding pixel of interest in a first range.
