An impregnation system (1) of fibrous material in tow format, comprises: an unwinding unit (2) to unwind a tow (T) from a reel (B1), a resin supply unit (3) to feed a resin (R) suitable for impregnating the tow (T), an impregnating unit (4) that is responsible for impregnating the tow (T) with the resin (R) so as to obtain an impregnated tow (M), a resin recovery system (9) to recover the excess resin from the impregnating unit (4) and send the recovered resin to the resin supply unit (3), a balancing unit (5) that is responsible for compacting the impregnated tow (M) to obtain a towpreg (P); and a winding unit (6) that winds said towpreg (P) so as to obtain a reel (B) of towpreg.
