A centrifugal separator comprises a casing which delimits a space (17) which is sealed by at least one seal relative the surroundings of the casing; and in which a rotor (5) is arranged for rotation around a rotational axis (x) and forming within itself a separation space (7), and in which separation space (7) centrifugal separation of at least one higher density component and at least one lower density component from a fluid takes place during operation, into which rotor (5) at least one inlet (9) extends for introducing said fluid to the separation space (7), and from which rotor (5) at least one first outlet (12) extends for discharge of at least one component separated from the fluid during operation, and wherein the rotor comprises at least one second outlet (16) extending from a portion of the separation space to the space (17) for discharge of at least one higher density component separated from the fluid during operation, and wherein said second outlet (16) is arranged for intermittent discharge by an intermittent discharge system and at least one seal is formed by said intermittent discharge system. |

Zusammenfassung
The present invention relates to a centrifugal separator (1) for separating a fluid mixture into components, comprising a rotor (3) which forms within itself a separation space (4) delimited by a rotor wall (5), and comprises a set of separation plates (6) defining separation passages (7) there between. An inlet (8) is arranged for supply of a fluid mixture to be separated and a first outlet (9) is arranged for a separated lighter first component of the fluid mixture. A sludge space (10) is being defined as an annular portion of the separation space radially outside the separation plates. A second outlet (11) is arranged for discharge of a separated denser second component of the fluid mixture extending from the radially outer portion of the sludge space. A plurality of sludge space plates (12), which sludge space plates are separate components from the separation plates, is arranged in the sludge space, extending outwardly and in an annular direction with respect to the rotational axis, while forming a gap (13, 13') between the sludge space plates and the rotor wall. |
