Storage comprising at least two multi-level storage racks with an aisle in between and at least one automated storage and retrieval machine (ASRS) that runs on and is guided by at least two travel rails that run longitudinally in parallel to scaffolding of one of the racks and facing the aisle at differing levels to service the length and height of both racks, one travel rail located at the top or near top of the rack, and one travel rail located on the upper half of the rack, wherein the ASRS comprises a vertical ladder-type mast with cross beams, a bifacial load handling means travelling vertically along the mast for loading and unloading items to sides of the aisle, a top trolley located in the top area of the mast for engaging the upper travel rail of the at least two travel rails and an intermediate trolley located in the upper half of the mast for engaging the intermediate travel rail of the at least two travel rails, at least one of the trolleys is driven, wherein the travel rails are fixed to longitudinal support rails of the scaffolding of the rack which supports the stored loads.

The invention relates to a storage system for transport units (T), with two different kinds of storage and removal apparatus, one of the single level service type and one of the multi level service type. Wherein a control is operable to control the storage and retrieval of transport units (T) by controlling movement of the first storage and removal apparatus (5) of the single level service type and of the removal-from-storage lift (8A) and of the supply-to-storage lift (8B) and of the second storage and removal apparatus of the multi level service type and is operable to- use the first area of the storage racks (R) for dedicated storage of fast mover transport units (FT), which is serviced by storage and removal apparatus (5) of the single level service type present on each such level and each such level is directly connected to the at least one removal-from-storage lift (8A) and the at least one supply-to-storage lift (8B), both removal-from-storage lift (8A) and supply-to-storage lift (8B) having interfacing rack conveyors (9) arranged within the footprint of the racking;and is operable to- use the second area of the storage racks (R) for dedicated storage of slow mover transport units (ST), which is serviced by the second storage and removal apparatus of the multi level service type.

A right angle transfer device (20, 120) has a conveying surface (25, 125) defined by a plurality of driven conveying members (26, 126) for conveying objects in a conveyance direction. A diverting conveying member (24, 124) is mounted to a frame (36, 136) and is driven to divert objects in a direction angled away from the conveyance direction. A lift drive (28, 128) rotates a cam (30, 130) to move a bar (32, 132) in a substantially horizontal direction. The movement of the bar (32, 132) causes a frame link (34, 134) connected to the bar (32, 132) and the frame (36, 136) to raise and lower the frame (36, 136). Once the frame (36, 136) has been moved upward to a sufficient extent, the diverting conveying member (24, 124) is raised above the conveying members (26, 126) to move and divert an object away from the conveyance direction.

System zur Abarbeitung einer Vielzahl von Kommissionieraufträgen mit jeweils mehreren Artikeln mit einem Nachschublager (2) für Artikel, mit mindestens einer mit dem Nachschublager verbundenen Umladestation (3) zur Umladung von Artikeln für den hängenden Transport, mit einem mit der mindestens einen Umladestation verbundenen Pufferspeicher (4) umfassend eine Vielzahl von parallelen Umlaufspeichern (8) für die Hängetransportmittel, wobei am Eingang und am Ausgang jedes Umlaufspeichers jeweils eine Weiche (11) und am Ausgang je eine Artikelidentifikationseinrichtung (12) angeordnet ist, und mit einer zentralen Steuerung (16), die eingerichtet ist, jedem Umlaufspeicher (8) eine Vielzahl von zu kommissionierenden Aufträgen zuzuordnen und eine Gesamtliste aller Artikel und deren Menge je Umlaufspeicher (8) aus diesen Aufträgen zu erstellen und die darin enthaltenen Artikel anhand der Gesamtliste dem jeweiligen Umlaufspeicher zuzuführen, wobei die Hängetransportmittel über eine Weiche (11) in den jeweiligen Umlaufspeicher eingeschleust werden.
