The present disclosure relates to model control of a hearing device and associated methods, in particular a method of fitting a hearing device and method of operating a hearing device. A hearing device is disclosed, the hearing device comprising a processing unit configured to compensate for hearing loss of a user of the hearing device; and a memory unit, wherein the memory unit has stored therein: a hearing device identifier; and model data comprising model information data indicative of available models for the hearing device, the model information data comprising first model information and a (digital) signature. The processing unit is configured to verify the model data, and proceed either to a model update mode if verification of the model data fails or to the fitting of the hearing device according to the chosen model if verification of the model data succeeds.

A hearing device and related method is dislcosed, the hearing device comprising a processing unit configured to compensate for hearing loss of a user of the hearing device; a memory unit; and an interface. The hearing device is configured to operate according to security settings of the hearing device, the security settings of the hearing device being stored in the memory unit, and wherein the processing unit is configured to obtain new security settings via the interface, the new security settings comprising a new first hearing device key identifier indicative of a hearing device key; verify the new security settings; and update, if the new security settings are verified, the security settings of the hearing device based on the new security settings. Said security settings may include a hearing device certificate, wherein to verify the new security settings comprises to verify the digital signature of the new security settings. Alternatively, to verify the new security settings comprises to validate the new first hearing device key identifier, a security update identifier or revocation identifiers.

A hearing aid having an antenna is provided, the hearing aid being adapted for wireless communication, such as for wireless communication with accessory and/or other hearing aids. The hearing aid comprises a monopole antenna for emission and reception of an electromagnetic field. The antenna is connected to the wireless communications unit. The antenna has an excitation point and a first branch of the antenna extends from the excitation point along the first side of the hearing aid assembly. The first branch has a first end, the first end being free or being interconnected with the excitation point via a third branch. The antenna further has a second branch of the antenna which extends from the excitation point. At least a part of the second branch extends from the first side to the second side.

The present invention relates to a hearing instrument which comprises a microphone comprising a microphone transducer element mounted in a microphone housing. The microphone transducer element produces a transducer signal in response to receipt of sound and a microphone amplification circuit is configured to generate an amplified microphone signal from the transducer signal. A control and processing circuit of the hearing instrument is coupled to the microphone amplification circuit for receipt and processing of the amplified microphone signal according to a hearing loss of a user. The microphone amplification circuit has a power supply port coupled to a switchable power supply which is selectively connected to a first power supply voltage, having a first DC voltage level, or a second power supply voltage, having a second DC voltage level, to the power supply port of the microphone amplification circuit. The second DC voltage level is higher than the first DC voltage level. A level detector is configured to detect a level of a microphone signal and connect the first or the second power supply voltage to the power supply port based on the detected level of the microphone signal.

The method comprises receiving a session request for a session via the interface; obtaining and/or storing a session key, e.g. in the memory unit; and encrypting the session key, e.g. based on a hearing device key. The method comprises sending the encrypted session key; and receiving session data in the session via the interface.
