A waste tank assembly comprising: a tank (100) having a top end (102) configured to be connected, in use, to receive waste via one or more ports (110, 112, 114), and an open bottom end (104), the tank defining an interior (108); a waste cartridge (200) removably received in the tank interior and having one or more ports (212, 214, 216) configured to be fluidly connected to the one or more ports of the tank to receive the waste in an interior volume (210) of the cartridge; and a closure part (300) for securing the waste cartridge inside the tank interior, the closure part openable to allow removal of the cartridge from the tank interior via the open end.

A touchless system for an aircraft cabin is disclosed. The system includes machine-readable codes (116, 516) placed on passenger seats and other aircraft surfaces that may be scanned and linked to cabin control systems through an application installed on personal portable electronic devices (108). The system also includes a communication system linked to the personal portable electronic devices (108) via the application and linked to the cabin control systems that facilitates the control of one or more control systems (150) by the personal portable electronic device. One of the cabin control systems is configured as an overhead storage container (172) configured with a gesture sensing system, allowing the storage lid (204) to be opened through specific gestures.

The sensor (22) monitors a direction of a local incident airflow that is imparted on the sensor (22). The parting strip assembly is coupled to the critical surface and includes a plurality of heating sections. The controller (50) is in signal communication with the sensor (22) and the parting strip assembly. The controller (50) determines a direction of surface airflow incident on a critical surface of the aircraft based on the local incident airflow and selectively concentrates power to at least one targeted heating section among the plurality of heating sections with respect to non-targeted heating sections among the plurality of heating sections based on the direction of the surface airflow.
