In a worm reducer, an elastic member urges a worm shaft housed in a housing toward a worm wheel. In a method for manufacturing the worm reducer, the elastic member is arranged in a recess formed on the inner face of the housing. Then, a jig is inserted into the housing, and the elastic member is compressed by the jig. In the state in which the elastic member is compressed by the jig, the worm shaft is inserted into the housing. Then, the jig is removed from the housing.

An outer lubricating liquid inflow passage that provides communication between an outside of a liquid-lubricated bearing and a rolling element arrangement chamber is formed between an outer ring and a cage, on the lubricating liquid inflow side. The outer lubricating liquid inflow passage has an annular axially extending outer passage portion that extends in the axial direction, and an annular radially extending outer passage portion. The radially extending outer passage portion communicates with a rolling element-side axial end portion of the axially extending outer passage portion. The radially extending outer passage portion extends from the axially extending outer passage portion to the rolling element arrangement chamber inward in the radial direction of the outer ring. A labyrinth is formed by the axially extending outer passage portion and the radially extending outer passage portion.

A control device 10 is mounted on a four-wheel-drive vehicle 1, and includes a detector and a vibration suppression controller. The detector detects the occurrence of a vibrating state, in which drive wheels and auxiliary drive wheels slip alternately in a four-wheel-drive state in which a drive force is transferred to the auxiliary drive wheels, or the occurrence of a preliminary state for the vibrating state. The vibration suppression controller reduces the drive force which is transferred to the auxiliary drive wheels via a drive force transfer device 2 when the vibrating state or the preliminary state is detected by the detector. The vibration suppression controller reduces the drive force which is transferred to the auxiliary drive wheels on condition that a thermal load of the drive force transfer device 2 is less than a predetermined threshold.

A torque detecting apparatus includes an annular magnetic flux collecting ring, a magnetic flux collecting holder surrounding and holding the magnetic flux collecting ring, and a magnetic shield including a circumferential end and attached to the outer periphery of the magnetic flux collecting holder. The magnetic flux collecting holder includes a housing portion that houses in its inner space the circumferential end of the magnetic shield. The housing portion includes an outer wall radially inwardly facing an outer peripheral surface of the circumferential end of the magnetic shield such that a first clearance is provided between the housing portion and the outer peripheral surface of the circumferential end of the magnetic shield.

A pump housing (12) of a gear pump (3) and a stator (4) of an electric motor (2) are fastened to each other with bolts (14) via a front insulator (13). Dowel pins (15) are inserted in respective through-holes that are formed in the front insulator (13) at equal intervals in a circumferential direction so as to be located next to insertion holes for the bolts (14). Respective end portions of each dowel pin (15) are in contact with a bottom face of the pump housing (12) and a pump-side surface of the stator core (8), and the pump housing (12) and the front insulator (13) are fixed to each other such that a slight gap is formed between the pump housing (12) and the front insulator (13).
