The present disclosure pertains to an absorbent article for personal hygiene, preferably a disposable pant, comprising:- a substantially transversely extending front panel;- a substantially transversely extending back panel; and- a substantially longitudinally extending absorbent insert joined to each of said front and back panels, said absorbent insert comprising front and back transversal edges and left and right longitudinal edges connecting the front and back transversal edges to form a perimeter thereof; and wherein said insert (4) comprises an absorbent core;wherein the front and back panels are joined together to define a pair of side seams, and wherein said article comprises a transversal waist barrier proximal to the front and/or back transversal edges of the absorbent insert wherein said barrier comprises a plurality of liquid retarding layers and wherein said plurality of liquid retarding layers comprise at least two layers selected from the group consisting of hydrophobic nonwovens, films, and/or strands and; the article having a Seepage Index of less than 35% according to the Seepage Index Method herein.

The present invention relates to an apparatus (78) for feeding and distributing superabsorbent particles on a substrate wherein the apparatus comprises: - a hopper (80) for introducing superabsorbent particles (34), - at least two or more discharge pipes (32) for distributing the superabsorbent particles (34) onto a surface, - a selection device (82) fluidically connecting the hopper (80) to said at least two or more discharge pipe (32), wherein the selection device (82) selectively distributes superabsorbent particles (34) from the hopper (80) to one or more discharge pipe (32). The invention also pertains to an apparatus (1) suitable for forming moulded absorbent material deposit structures to be used as absorbent cores for absorbent articles using said apparatus for feeding and distributing superabsorbent particles as well as a method for forming moulded absorbent material deposit structures to be used as absorbent cores for absorbent articles.

A testing device for testing one or more conductivity parameters of a sensor-comprising absorbent article, said device comprising: a computing device comprising a processor and an input receiver; a clip-on device comprising a power source, transmitter, a processing unit, and one or more electrical terminals in electrical communication with at least one of the transmitter and the processing unit; wherein said terminals are adapted to come into contact with corresponding connection tracks of a sensor, and wherein an absorbent article comprises said sensor; said computing device and said clip-on device are distinct components in data communication with each other and wherein a plurality of conductivity parameters are acquired by the clip-on device and transmitted by the transmitter to the computing device, wherein the acquired plurality of conductivity parameters are further processed by the processor and/or processing unit to provide an indication to a user related to the proper functioning of the sensor via a user interface comprised by said computing device and in data communication with said display.

The present invention relates to an absorbent core (1) for an absorbent article, comprising absorbent material and a continuous channel (4) substantially free of said absorbent material. Said channel (4) comprises at least (i) one longitudinally extending central section (41) coincident with the longitudinal center line (LCL), (ii) four longitudinally extending lateral sections (42), (iii) four diagonally extending diagonal sections (43), and (iv) one transversally extending closing section (44,44'). A continuous channel made of at least these essential channel sections provides fast absorption, good liquid distribution throughout the entire core, improved fit and comfort and minimizes the risk of leakage.

An absorbent core for use in an absorbent articles, wherein the absorbent core extends in a transversal direction and a longitudinal direction, and comprises: a fluid-permeable top layer; a bottom layer; one or more central layers sandwiched between the top layer and the bottom layer, each central layer having a front edge, a back edge and two longitudinally extending side edges, wherein the central layer is a high loft fibrous nonwoven layer which is free of cellulose fibers; wherein the high loft fibrous nonwoven layer comprises, preferably consisting of, a carded air-through bonded nonwoven or drylaid thermobonded nonwoven; and wherein the central layer is impregnated with superabsorbent particles such that said particles are comprised through a thickness of said central layer, said thickness extending perpendicular to both the transversal direction and a longitudinal direction, and wherein the high loft fibrous nonwoven layer is substantially free of hotmelt adhesive for immobilizing said superabsorbent particles.

A method for the manufacture of an absorbent core and/or article comprising the steps of: (i) providing a first, preferably substantially continuous, nonwoven web having a first void volume; (ii) selectively applying heat to said first nonwoven web such that a deposition area of said first nonwoven web increases its void volume to a second void volume that is greater than said first void volume; (iii) depositing absorbent material comprising, preferably consisting of, superabsorbent particles onto the deposition area of said first nonwoven web; (iv) passively or actively cooling the deposition area of said first nonwoven web so that the void volume reduces to substantially the first void volume; (v) optionally combining the first nonwoven web with second and third nonwoven webs such that said first nonwoven web is interposed between said second and third nonwoven webs preferably by joining said webs by mechanical bonding selected from hot pressing and/or ultrasonic bonding; wherein the first nonwoven web consists of a high loft fibrous nonwoven layer that is free of cellulose fibers; said high loft fibrous nonwoven layer comprising, preferably consisting of, a carded air-through bonded nonwoven or drylaid thermobonded nonwoven.
