A method for localizing a vehicle assembly with respect to a ground assembly in a wireless power transfer system is disclosed. The method includes receiving a combined signal comprising (a) a wireless power transfer (WPT) signal and (b) a differential inductive positioning system (DIPS) signal; determining a sampling frequency for the combined signal; determining a sampling phase for the combined signal; extracting the DIPS signal from the combined signal based on the sampling frequency and the sampling phase; and determining the vehicle assembly position relative to the ground assembly based on the extracted DIPS signal.

A wireless power transfer (WPT) system for charging an electric vehicle is disclosed. The system includes a WPT coil, a positioning system, and control circuitry. The positioning system includes a positioning coil connected to a switch, wherein in a first switch state the switch is configured to connect the positioning coil to resistor circuitry, and in a second switch state the switch is configured to disconnect the positioning coil from the resistor circuitry. The control circuitry is configured to set the switch to the first switch state to connect the positioning coil to the resistor circuitry, activate the WPT coil to induce a voltage in the positioning coil, receive a measurement from the positioning coil, and determine a relative position between a vehicle assembly and a ground assembly of the WPT system based on the received measurement from the positioning coil.

Systems and methods are described herein for streaming during unavailability of a content server. Upon determining that there are conditions indicating buffering issues during delivery of a media asset, a server determines a first group of devices suitable for receiving the media asset from the server and sharing the media asset on a peer-to-peer network. Then, the server determines a second group of devices suitable for receiving the media asset on a peer-to-peer network from a first group device. The server then determines groupings within which to share and receive the media asset. Next, the server transmits instructions to the devices in the first group to maintain in buffer and share certain portions of the media asset with the second group devices within their grouping. Finally, the server updates information detailing the media asset portions the devices are maintaining in buffer and sharing.

A method is provided for activating a secondary battery having a negative electrode, a positive electrode, and a microporous separator between the negative and positive electrodes permeated with carrier-ion containing electrolyte, the negative electrode having anodically active silicon or an alloy thereof. The method includes transferring carrier ions from the positive electrode to the negative electrode to at least partially charge the secondary battery, and transferring carrier ions from an auxiliary electrode to the positive electrode, to provide the secondary battery with a positive electrode end of discharge voltage V<pos,eod> and a negative electrode end of discharge voltage V<neg,eod> when the cell is at a predefined V<cell,eod> value, the value of V<pos,eod> corresponding to a voltage at which the state of charge of the positive electrode is at least 95% of its coulombic capacity and V<neg,eod> is at least 0.4 V (vs Li) but less than 0.9 V (vs Li).

Methods and systems are disclosed herein for a media guidance application that enhances the viewer experience by providing supplemental content related to a media asset during a fast-access playback operation. For example, in response to a user input during a fast-forward or rewind operation, the media guidance application may generate for display supplemental content related to the progression point of the media asset at which the user input was received while the fast-forward or rewind operation continues.

Systems and methods provided herein describe dynamically displaying a guide interface element for a customized period of time that is determined based on characteristics of the actual guide interface element to be displayed. In this way, when the timeout of the guide interface element is customized based on characteristics of the guide data, the duration engine allows sufficient time for the viewer to view and react to the guide interface element. Incidents of viewer relaunching of the guide interface element can thus be reduced to improve system processing efficiency and viewing experience.

Systems and methods are presented for providing personalized content based on gestures, in order to provide a seamless and user-driven feedback capture platform that captures user gestures and provides improved personalized content. The system captures biometric data from the user during the presentation of a first content item from a first content source. The system identifies the feedback indicator from the biometric data captured during the output of the first content item and stores an identifier of the second content item associated with the first content item in the master list. The system generates the master list for display and, in response to receiving a selection of the identifier of the second content item, retrieves for output the second content item from the second content source on the user device.

Systems and methods for reducing distractions from nearby devices when content susceptible to interruption is being consumed. Content susceptible to interruption is determined, and when this content is consumed on one device, nearby devices are identified and their output characteristics are modified. For example, output volume of nearby devices may be reduced, or the volume of the first device may be increased. This process is repeated with different devices as they each output content determined to be susceptible to interruption. Consumers are thus presented with fewer distractions from surrounding devices while they are consuming content that is susceptible to interruption.

Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a size of a buffer based on a probability that a rewind request will be received during a currently playing segment of media. When the system determines that receiving a rewind request is likely, the system will increase the size of a buffer such that the rewind request can be accommodated using data from the buffer. When the system determines that receiving a rewind request is unlikely, the system will decrease the size of the buffer to free resources for other system components.
