Abstract
A safety control system, comprising a control panel (200) and a number of detection and actuation modules (300) located remote from the control panel (200). A communication connection (265) is provided for each of the number of detection and actuation modules (300) with each communication connection (265) connecting the respective detection and actuation module (300) with the control panel (200) for electronic communication. Each of the number of detection and actuation modules (300) is adapted to receive input signals from a plurality of detectors (212, 214) connected to the respective detection and actuation module (300) over an input connection (221). Each of the number of the detection and actuation module (300) is adapted to monitor the input signals received from each of the detectors (212, 214) connected to the respective detection and actuation module (300) and upon identification of a safety event to actuate one or more of the plurality of actuators (216, 218) connected to the respective detection and actuation module (300) by sending output signals to the one or more of the plurality of actuators (216, 218) over an output connection (226). Each of the number of detection and actuation modules (300) is adapted to indicate the safety event to the control panel (200) via the communication connection (265).
