Abstract
The present invention relates to an ultrasound imaging system (100) comprising a robotic arm (3), an ultrasound probe (5), at least one depth camera (6) for capturing a depth image of a patient's body (1) and a surrounding, an ultrasound probe pose determination unit (10); a dense pose determination unit (20), and an ultrasound probe pose transformation unit (30), wherein the ultrasound probe position determination unit (10) is configured to determine a six-dimensional pose of the ultrasound probe (5), wherein ultrasound probe pose transformation unit (30) is configured to transform the six-dimensional pose of the ultrasound probe (5) in the depth image to the 3D human body surface model and vice versa using an invertible coordinate transformation function f (pd,probe) = pm,probe obtained by estimating dense correspondences between a selected target region in the depth image of the patient's body and a 3D human body surface model. Said ultrasound imaging system (100) therefore allows recording a position of an ultrasound probe (5) relative to a patient's body (1) autonomous positioning of an ultrasound probe (5) on a patient's body (1) independent of the body position. A further aspect of the present invention is related to a method for recording a six-dimensional pose and/or trajectory of an ultrasound probe (5) relative to a patient's body. A further aspect of the present invention is related to a method for autonomous positioning of an ultrasound probe (5) on a patient's body (1).
