Abstract

A rotating support (14) is rotatable with respect to a fixed support (12) about an axis of rotation (Z) under the control of actuation means (16) and supports coaxially a disk (18) of solid lubricating material extending between a first axial end surface (18a) facing the rotating support (14) and an opposite second axial end surface (18b) arranged at a level with respect to the rotating support (14). A yarn (Y) that is slidably inserted between the rotating support (14) and the first axial end surface (18a) in sliding engagement with the latter progressively erodes the first axial end surface (18a) by friction, causing the level of the second axial end surface (18b) to progressively drop. Sensor means (20) detect when the level of the second axial end surface (18b) has dropped below a predetermined threshold and generate a corresponding alarm signal.
