A solid-state relay (100), which includes a semiconductor switch (106) and a voltage boost block. The semiconductor switch (106) has a control input (124), which causes the semiconductor switch (106) to shift from an open, non-conducting position to a closed, conducting position when a voltage is applied to the control input (124), wherein the closed position is associated with a parasitic resistance of the semiconductor switch (106). The voltage boost block includes a boost converter (104) and a ground connector (114). A voltage output of the semiconductor switch (122) is electrically connected to a voltage input (108) of the boost converter (104). A voltage output (110) of the boost converter (104) is electrically connected to the control input (124). The ground connector (114) of the boost converter (104) is electrically connected to a voltage input of the semiconductor switch (106). The parameters of the semiconductor switch (106) and the boost converter (104), including the parasitic resistance and a voltage step-up ratio of the boost converter (104), are selected such that when the semiconductor switch (106) is in the closed position, a voltage at the voltage output (122) of the semiconductor switch (106) results in a voltage at the voltage output (110) of the boost converter (104) sufficient for application to the control input (124) at the semiconductor switch (106), to cause the semiconductor switch (106) to be maintained in a closed position in the absence of another control signal.

Methods, systems and computer program products, for training a multitask neural network. First and second datasets are provided, containing samples for a first task and a second task, respectively. First and second batch miners are provided for mining samples from the first and second datasets. First and second costs for completing the first and second tasks, respectively, are assessed using a first sample mined by the first batch miner from the first dataset and a second sample mined by the second batch miner from the second dataset. When the first or second cost, respectively, falls within a range delimited by lower and upper thresholds, the is added to a first or second batch, respectively. When a termination condition is reached for either the first or second batch, the first or the second batch is used to update the neural network.

An object is detected (S02) in a plurality of video frames. For a temporally first video frame a first value of an object property is determined (S04) and the object property is set (S06) to have the first value in a metadata frame corresponding to the first video frame. For each subsequent video frame, a subsequent value of the object property is determined (S08) and a deviation is calculated (S12) with respect to a value of the object property that was last set in a metadata frame. If the deviation exceeds a non-zero threshold, the object property is set (S14) to have the subsequent value in a metadata frame corresponding to the subsequent video frame. Otherwise no value of the object property is set (S16) in that metadata frame.

There are provided encoding and decoding methods, and corresponding systems which are beneficial in connection to performing a search among regions of interest, ROIs, in encoded video data. In the encoded video data, there are independently decodable ROIs. These ROIs and the encoded video frames in which they are present are identified in metadata which is searched responsive to a search query. The encoded video data further embeds information which associates the ROIs with sets of coding units, CUs, that spatially overlap with the ROIs. In connection to independently decoding the ROIs found in the search, the embedded information is used to identify the sets of CUs to decode.

The controller encodes macroblocks of the overlapping area in the first image using a set of first QP values, and adds a modified set of the first QP-values to a header of each macroblock. The controller encodes macroblocks of the overlapping area in the second image using a set of second QP values, and adds a modified set of the second QP-values to a header of each macroblock.
