Zusammenfassung
A switching module (1) is described. The switching module (1) comprises an H-bridge circuit (2) with four switching assemblies, and an active clamp circuit (6) with four controllable semiconductor switches (S5, S6, ..., S8). Each switching assembly comprises a pair of controllable semiconductor switches electrically connected an anti-series (S1, S2, ..., S4 and S9, S10, ..., S12). Alternatively, each switching assembly may comprise a controllable semiconductor switch and a diode electrically connected in series. The H-bridge circuit (2) comprises first and second AC bridge terminals (AC1, AC2) electrically connectable to a respective coil (4), and first and second DC bridge terminals (DC1, DC2) electrically connectable to a DC current source or to a DC bridge terminal of another switching module. The active clamp circuit (6) comprises first and second DC clamp terminals (DC3, DC4) between which an energy storage device (C) is electrically connected. A plurality of switching modules may be electrically connected together to provide a power electronic switching assembly. |

Zusammenfassung
A power system (1) is described. The power system (1) includes an AC/DC power converter (6) electrically connectable to an AC power network (2) and a DC link (8). An electrical load (10) is electrically connected to the DC link (8). A DC/DC power converter (14) is electrically connected to the DC link (8) and an energy storage device (12). A first converter controller (16) is adapted to control the DC/DC power converter (14) to regulate the DC link voltage, and the flow of power between the energy storage device (12) and the DC link (8). The second converter controller (18) is adapted to control the AC/DC power converter (6) and to regulate or control at least one of the voltage at the AC terminals of the AC/DC power converter (6), inertial AC power, and synchronisation with the AC power network (2). |

Zusammenfassung
A stator assembly (1) of an axial flux electrical machine is described. The stator assembly (1) includes a plurality of stator coils (4) and a plurality of core segments (2) arranged circumferentially to define a segmented stator core (3). Each core segment (2) includes a tooth part (2a) that extends axially and which is adapted to mount a respective stator coil (4). The stator core (3) can also be non-segmented with a plurality of tooth parts arranged circumferentially. Adjacent mounted stator coils (4) are spaced apart by a substantially trapezoidal void. The stator assembly (1) also includes a plurality of stator coil retainers (10). Each retainer (10) is received in a respective void between a pair of adjacent mounted stator coils (4) and its position in the radial direction is independently adjustable. Each retainer (10) includes at least one channel for receiving a cooling fluid (e.g., cooling air or a suitable cooling liquid such as water or propylene glycol). Each retainer (10) also includes a pair of contact surfaces that are spaced apart in the circumferential direction. Each retainer (10) is adapted to apply a contact pressure to the respective pair of adjacent mounted stator coils (4) through the contact surfaces. |
