The smart instruments are configured to sense and measure data, for example, related to screw insertion torque, segmental and global spine stiffness, correction force, rod reduction force, spinal alignment, or other metrics, which provide objective intraoperative data to the surgeon in real time. This data helps ensure that each action taken during the surgery is as precise as possible, minimizing risks and improving the effectiveness of the intervention.

Custom patient-specific interbody implants, systems, and methods of generating custom implants. The implants may include upper and lower surfaces with an irregular surface topography, which are custom contoured to match the adjacent vertebral endplates of a specific patient. The method may include uploading images of the spine for the patient and processing the images into a virtual three-dimensional model of the spine including topography of individual vertebral bodies. The user may automatically and/or manually manipulate the virtual three-dimensional model to pre-operatively simulate a desired correction to the spine. The virtual implant model may be generated based on the desired correction and the topography of adjacent vertebral bodies.

Functional alignment of a 3D image of pelvis includes identifying a reference points on each 2D image of weight-bearing pelvis; identifying corresponding reference points on a 3D image of pelvis in a non-weight bearing position; constructing references on the 2D images based on the reference points on each respective image, constructing a corresponding reference on the 3D image based on the reference points thereon; and aligning the corresponding references of the 3D image with the references of 2D images, to provide a functionally aligned 3D image to more accurately plan placement of an acetabular shell. An independent, surgical screw placement system makes use of an aiming jig. The aiming jig has components and features which can be suitably adjusted so that an independent or extra-plate screw avoids crossing the nominal trajectories of other joint screws securing a surgical plate to a foot in an associated surgery. The aiming jig has a telescoping arm which can be adjusted to a variety of potential trajectories for the independent surgical screw until a desired trajectory for such independent screw has been determined.

In some cases, the surgical robot includes: a robot arm for holding a surgical instrument; and a controller coupled with the robot arm, the controller programmed to: detect a position of the surgical instrument in at least one attraction volume corresponding with a planned trajectory of the surgical instrument for the THA procedure, the at least one attraction volume defined in part by a point and an axis extending from the point; and while the surgical instrument is in the at least one attraction volume during the THA procedure, provide assistance to movement of the surgical instrument in a direction toward the at least one attraction volume.

An intramedullary nail implant for positioning in a bone having a head and a shaft defining an intramedullary canal. The implant includes a distal portion having a shaft extending along a central axis and configured for positioning within the intramedullary canal. A proximal portion extends proximally from the distal portion. The proximal portion defines a contact surface which extends at least in part medially of the central axis such that it is configured to extend within a medial portion of the bone head. A method of implanting the nail is also provided.

A patient stabilization system includes a stabilization base and a plurality of wheels mounted to the stabilization base. The plurality of wheels is configured to move the stabilization base along a surface. The patient stabilization system also includes a locking mechanism configured to selectively restrain movement of the stabilization base with respect to the surface, a column portion extending upwards from the stabilization base, and at least one arm. A proximal portion of the at least one arm is coupled to the column portion. Further, the patient stabilization system includes an adaptor coupled to a distal portion of the at least one arm. The adaptor is configured to couple to a patient fixation apparatus secured to an anatomical feature of a patient, and the patient stabilization system is configured to anchor the patient fixation apparatus to the surface in a secured state.

A suture button system for fixing a syndesmotic injury comprises a flexible fixation implant and an inserter device used to deploy the implant across bones. The flexible fixation implant typically comprises a flexible connector and two suture buttons which interface with the bone surface or a bone plate or washer. The flexible connector comprises a plurality of suture strands. The buttons typically have a feature which allows them to interface with an instrument used to deploy the implant across the two bones. The inserter device is configured to interface with the flexible fixation implant and to position it across bones through a pre-drilled bone tunnel. Implants, systems, and methods for securing a flexible band, thereby providing a desired correction to the spine. The implant may secure the flexible band to a spinal rod and/or a pedicle screw. The implant has a locking mechanism to secure the band. The band may be looped around bony anatomy and tensioned to achieve correction and provide fixation as an alternative or supplement to pedicle screws and spinal rods during spinal deformity surgery. Tensioners may be used that allow for multiple positions for attachment between the tensioner and a band clamp inserter.
