A deposition nozzle has a housing, an inlet into the housing arranged to receive a solution carrying randomly oriented fibers, an orientation component within the housing, the orientation component positioned to receive the solution from the inlet and operate to produce aligned fibers in a predetermined, single direction, and an outlet on the housing arranged to receive the aligned fibers and deposit them on a substrate. A system includes a porous substrate, a deposition nozzle, a reservoir of randomly oriented fibers in solution connected to the deposition nozzle, the deposition nozzle position adjacent the porous substrate and connected to the reservoir, the nozzle to receive the randomly oriented fibers and output aligned fibers, and a vacuum connected to the porous substrate to remove fluid from the porous substrate as the deposition nozzle deposits the aligned fibers on the porous substrate to produce a fiber pre-form having aligned fibers. A method includes providing a reservoir of randomly oriented fibers in a solution, dispensing the solution of randomly oriented fibers through a nozzle having an orientation component onto a porous substrate as a solution of aligned fibers, and immobilizing the fibers to form a fiber pre-form. |

The system includes a feed input (130) that processes the powder coating materials for use in a filament extension atomizer (140). The filament extension atomizer (140) stretches fluid filaments of the powder coating material to form droplets (144) of powder coating material. The droplets (144) of powder coating material are partially cooled to prevent agglomeration and to form a powder coating material suitable for electrostatic deposition. The cooled powder coating material is electrostatically charged and directed onto the substrate surface, where it is deposited due to the electrostatic potential between the substrate and cooled droplets. The deposited powder coating material is then cured to the substrate to form a cohesive film of coating material across the substrate. |

A route-tracing application can measure the performance of a path in a named-data network using trace agents deployed across various network nodes. During operation, a network node can process a route-tracing Interest by performing a lookup operation in a forwarding information base (FIB) using the Interest's name, in which a respective FIB entry may map the name to a forwarding rule. If the FIB does not include an entry for the Interest's route-tracing name, a trace agent at the network node determines one or more outbound interfaces for the route-tracing operation based on the Interest's name, and creates new route-tracing FIB entries that each maps the Interest's name to a forwarding rule for the determined interfaces. The network node returns a Content Object that satisfies the Interest, in which the Content Object includes the names of the new FIB entries, as well as performance information for the path. |

An apparatus for performing electrodialysis at pressures greater than or equal to the ambient pressure is described. The apparatus includes an electrodialysis membrane stack (101) and housing. The electrodialysis membrane stack includes at least one electrodialysis cell (102). The electrodialysis apparatus includes electrodes that apply voltage across the electrodialysis stack. The housing pressurizes the electrodialysis stack at a stack pressure. The housing includes a cell chamber that receives the electrodialysis stack, the cell chamber including at least one pressurization port communicating with the cell chamber such that a portion of electrode solution is transmittable into a region of the cell chamber outside the electrodialysis stack. A system for performing electrodialysis at pressures greater than ambient pressure includes at least two solution loops, an electrode solution loop, and an electrodialysis apparatus operatively connected to the solution and electrode solution loops that performs electrodialysis at a stack pressure that is greater than ambient pressure. |
