A chip-scale gyrometric apparatus is disclosed. In embodiments, the chip-scale gyrometric apparatus includes a dielectric substrate (102) and an antenna element (302) attached thereto for receiving an inbound signal having an initial phase. The apparatus includes a splitter (304) for splitting the inbound signal into two equivalent signals, and two coils (106, 108) connected to the splitter. The first coil carries one of the split signals in a clockwise (CW) path relative to a rotational axis, while the second coil carries the other split signal in a counterclockwise (CCW) path relative to the same axis. An integrated circuit (IC) (104) on the substrate and connected to the first and second coils measures a phase shift between the first and second signals (e.g., deviation from the initial phase) based on their respective CW and CCW paths and determines, based on the measured phase shift, a degree of rotation relative to the common rotational axis. |

A system and method for high-confidence error overbounding of multiple optical pose solutions receives a set of candidate correspondences between 2D image features captured by an aircraft camera (102) and 3D constellation features including at least one ambiguous correspondence. A candidate estimate of the optical pose of the camera (102) is determined for each of a set of candidate correspondence maps (CMAP), each CMAP resolving the ambiguities differently. Each candidate pose estimate is evaluated for viability and any non-viable estimates eliminated. An individual error bound is determined for each viable candidate pose estimate and CMAP, and based on the set of individual error bounds a multiple-pose containment error bound is determined, bounding with high confidence the set of candidate CMAPs and multiple pose estimates where at least one is correct. The containment error bound may be evaluated for accuracy as required for flight operations performed by aircraft-based instruments and systems. |

A flight display (100) is described. The flight display includes a display screen (102), a physical network interface (106), and multiple processors (110). The flight display interfaces with the flight deck by way of the physical network interface. The display screen displays images representative of avionics data in response to signals generated by one or more of the processors. The processors also generate command signals causing an actuator (306) of the aircraft to control a flight control surface or a throttle. In this regard, the one or more of the processors perform various automatic flight control system (AFCS) functions. A system (200) is further described including multiple of the flight displays. By hosting the AFCS functions across processors of the multiple flight displays, a level of command integrity may be reached. Furthermore, backups flight displays are available to be reconfigured to perform the AFCS functions. |
