There is described a lid-spout assembly (3) for a package (1) having a main body (2) comprising a designated pour opening and being filled with a pourable product. The lid-spout assembly (3) comprises at least a spout (10) having a pouring outlet (11), a lid (12) configured to selectively close and open the pouring outlet (11) and a tethering element (13) tethering the lid (12) to the spout (10). The spout (10) comprises at least a base frame configured to couple the spout (10) to the main body (2) about the designated pour opening and a collar (15) carrying the pouring outlet (11) and protruding from the base frame (14). The tethering element (13) comprises a first end (38) fixed to the lid (12) and a second end (39) fixed to the collar (15) .

A measuring tool (1) for measuring a delivered dose of radiation emitted by at least one electron beam emitter (2a-b) in an irradiation area (2) used to sterilise packaging material to be later formed into a package is provided. The measuring tool (1) comprises: at least one transducer (3) configured to convert a characteristic of the delivered dose of radiation to another characteristic; a frame (5) configured to hold the at least one transducer (3) and insert the at least one transducer (3) into the irradiation area (2); and at least one connector (7) configured to allow signal transfer from the at least one transducer (3) to a read-out system (9) remote of the irradiation area (2).Use of said tool and a method for calibrating a radiation dose emitted by at least one electron beam emitter (2a-b) in an irradiation area (2) used to sterilise packaging material to be later formed into a package are also provided.

A method is provided to improve resource-efficiency in beer production by enabling production of a non-fermentable beverage by use of brewer's spent grain, BSG. The method comprises: obtaining (203) BSG from a process of producing beer, mixing (204) the BSG with water into a slurry, processing (205) the slurry for generation of a precursor liquid, and storing (206), during a storage time period, the precursor liquid for subsequent use as base material for production of the non-fermented beverage, wherein the storage time period exceeds 2 hours. The method is simple to integrate with existing beer production. The dependence between the production of non-fermented beverage and the production of beer is reduced, for example allowing for producing beer and non-fermented beverage at different plants.

A sealer trolley for use with a splice table is provided. The sealer trolley is configured to seal an incoming web of packaging material to an existing web of packaging material during a splicing operation. The sealer trolley comprises a cutting unit with a blade arranged to cut the incoming web of packaging material at a slanted angle. A method for controlling a flow regulating valve (6) of a filling machine (1), controlling the flow of pourable food product, envisages: receiving an inlet pressure measurement (P<IN>) from a pressure sensor (14); receiving an inlet flow measurement (F<IN>) from a flow meter (16); determining a control signal (S<C>) for controlling an operating position of the flow regulating valve (6) by combined contributions (C<1>, C<2>) of a flow feedback control module (22), receiving at its input a flow set point (F<SP>) and the inlet flow measurement (F<IN>) and generating a first control contribution (C<1>) indicative of a difference between the inlet flow measurement and the flow set point; and a flow feed-forward control module (20), receiving at its input the inlet pressure measurement (P<IN>) and the flow set point (F<SP>) and generating a second control contribution (C<2>) as a function of the flow set point and inlet pressure measurement, using pre-stored fluid-dynamic maps, which may be a result of a characterization of the flow regulating valve in a test condition. The flow feed-forward control module uses the fluid dynamics maps in a dynamically adaptive manner, depending on different operating conditions of the filling machine and/or the related pourable food product, thereby adapting to the same different operating conditions and/or the pourable food product.

The closure group (12) comprises a closure (17) configured to selectively open and close the pouring outlet (11) when being respectively in an opening position and a closing position and a sealing lip (18) extending from the closure (17). The sealing lip (18) extends into the flow channel (10) with the closure (17) being in the closing position. The sealing lip (18) interacts with at least one of the one or more annular protrusion elements (19) for sealing the pouring outlet (11) in cooperation with the annular protrusion elements (19) with the closure (17) being in the closing position.

A method (300), and the corresponding system, for heat treating a liquid food product LP in a food processing system (200), said food processing system comprising, as seen in a flow direction of the LP, an indirect heating device (202), a holding cell (206), a direct heating device (204) and a cooling arrangement (214). The method comprises heating the LP with the indirect heating device to a temperature between 70 °C and 80 °C, holding the LP in the holding cell for at least 10 seconds, such that the LP is pasteurized, heating the LP with the direct heating device to a temperature of at least 120 °C, such that the shelf life of the LP is extended, and cooling the LP with the cooling arrangement, such that the LP is held above 120 °C for at most 5 seconds.
