Levelling device for adjusting the distance of an elevator guide rail from the bottom of the shaft, wherein the levelling device comprises a platform which holds an adjusting screw for acting on the lower end face of the elevator guide rail in position above the bottom of the shaft, in such a way that the distance of the guide rail from the bottom of the shaft can be adjusted by actuating the adjusting screw and in that the levelling device comprises a rail guide which guides the lower end of the guide rail movably in the vertical direction in such a way that it cannot deviate laterally from the adjusting screw when adjusting its distance from the bottom of the shaft.
