The present invention relates, in part, to the discovery that the presence of HF in a HCFC-244bb feedstream in a reaction for the preparation of HFO-1234yf results in selectivity changeover from HFO-1234yf to HCFO-1233xf. By substantially removing HF, it is shown that the selectivity to HFO-1234yf via dehydrochlorination of HCFC-244bb is improved.

Compositions comprising multi-fluorinated olefins and HFC-32 are disclosed. Such compositions are useful particularly for in stationary refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Impurities such as sulfur dioxide (SO₂) are removed from trifluoroacetyl chloride (TFAC) through distillation, adsorption, or a combination thereof, and/or including the formation of an azeotrope or azeotrope-like composition including effective amounts of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and trifluoroacetyl chloride (TFAC). The trifluoroacetyl chloride (TFAC) thus purified may then be used in the manufacture of trifluoroiodomethane (CF₃I). Also disclosed are azeotropes and azeotrope like compositions of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and trifluoroacetyl chloride (TFAC).

The present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for delivery of therapeutic gas to patients, using techniques to compensate for disruptions in breathing gas flow measurement, such as when breathing gas flow measurement is unavailable or unreliable. Such techniques include using historical breathing gas flow rate data, such as moving average flow rates, moving median flow rates and/or flow waveforms. At least some of these techniques can be used to ensure that interruption in therapeutic gas delivery is minimized or eliminated.

A method for forming a large metallic component, a friction stir welded component and a friction stir welded blank are provided. The method includes positioning a first metallic plate and a second metallic plate in an abutting arrangement. The first metallic plate and the second metallic plate have corresponding faying surfaces at a point of abutment. A backing plate is attached spanning the point of abutment adjacent the faying surfaces. The first metallic plate is friction stir welded to the second metallic plate to form a friction stir weld along the faying surfaces. The backing plate receives an end of a friction stir welding tool curing the friction stir welding. The backing plate is removed to form a welded blank. The welded blank is formed into a component form. The component is heat treated and aged to form the large metallic component. The friction stir weld in the welded blank has a stable microstructure having little or no abnormal grain growth during elevated temperature forming, heat treatment and aging.

Described are systems and methods for compensating long term sensitivity drift of catalytic type electrochemical gas sensors used in systems for delivering therapeutic nitric oxide (NO) gas to a patient by compensating for drift that may be specific to the sensors atypical use in systems for delivering therapeutic nitric oxide gas to 1Aa patient. In at least some instances, the long term sensitivity drift of catalytic type electrochemical gas sensors can be addressed using calibration schedules, which can factor in the absolute change in set dose of NO being delivered to the patient that can drive one or more baseline calibrations. The calibration schedules can be used reduce the amount of times the sensor goes offline. Systems and methods described may factor in in actions occurring at the delivery system and/or aspects of the surrounding environment, prior to performing a baseline calibration, and may postpone the calibration and/or rejected using the sensor's output for the calibration.
