The invention relates to a tip-cap assembly (30) adapted to close the fluid passageway (14) of the distally projecting tip (13) of an injection system (10), said tip-cap assembly (30) comprising:- an elastomeric inner cap (50) having a distal face (53) and a radial rim (57), and a length L2 defined as the distance between the distal face (53) and the radial rim (57),- a rigid outer cap (40) which is or can be securely disposed around said elastomeric inner cap (50), said rigid outer cap comprising a shoulder (42f) and at least one abutment surface (42e), and a length L1 defined as the distance between the at least one abutment surface (42e) and the shoulder (42f),wherein the elastomeric inner cap (50) is distally blocked by the contact between the distal face (53) and the at least one abutment surface (42e) and proximally blocked by the contact between the radial rim (57) and the shoulder (42f),and wherein the length L1 is greater than the length L2 in order to allow a limited translation of the elastomeric inner cap (50) within the rigid outer cap (40).

Provided herein is a syringe comprising a syringe barrel including a distal barrel tip, a plunger assembly received within the syringe barrel, a needle fixedly inserted into the barrel tip, a tip ring positioned about the barrel tip and extending radially outward therefrom, and a needle shield removably connectable with the tip ring, with the needle shield positioned over the needle when connected to the tip ring. Provided herein is a method for manufacturing a prefilled syringe. The method includes providing a prefilled syringe including a syringe barrel defining a chamber containing a fluid therein and a stopper axially sealing the fluid in the chamber, with the stopper including one or more ribs forming a sealing surface with the syringe barrel. The method also includes performing a terminal steaming process on the prefilled syringe, with the terminal steaming process including a first steaming cycle that exposes the syringe to steam at a set temperature and a set pressure and a second steaming cycle that exposes the syringe to steam at the set temperature and the set pressure. Performing of the terminal steaming process reduces a diameter of at least one rib of the one or more ribs, to reduce a contact pressure between the stopper and the syringe barrel.

A plastic flange (1) for a medical container (2), said plastic flange (1) defining an opening (11), said opening (11) being surrounded by a peripheral collar (10), said collar (10) providing a support to a user's fingers, wherein the flange (1) comprises connecting means for connecting said flange (1) to an external surface (24) of a tubular barrel (20) of the medical container (2), and wherein the flange (1) further comprises a remotely readable electronic component (3) for remote identification of the medical container (2), said remotely readable electronic component (3) being embedded into the plastic flange (1).

A holding device configured to support medical containers includes a supporting plate having an upper surface, a lower surface, and a plurality of openings through the supporting plate configured to receive the medical containers. A drug storage and dispensing system that includes a packaging unit and an injection device for pre-filled containers having a needle shield and containing a medication is disclosed. The drug storage and dispensing system of the present disclosure provides for drug administration while minimizing the space occupied by such containers in the cold chain. The packaging unit minimizes the risk of a needle-stick injury, as a healthcare worker does not have to manually remove the needle shield. The injection device provides a novel way of auto-disabling a container, such as a syringe, as a plunger rod is not engaged with the container until the container is actually used. The drug storage and dispensing system provides for a reduction in the number of steps required to perform an injection, and thus a productivity and efficiency gain in mass immunization campaigns.

The present invention relates to a method of evaluating the interactions between a layer of silicone oil deposited on a substrate and a compound of interest which is contained in a solution, said solution being in contact with the silicone oil, which comprises the following steps: 1) preparing a mixture containing the silicone oil and an evaporable solvent, 2) contacting the mixture with the substrate, 3) evaporating the solvent to obtain a substrate coated with a layer of the silicone oil, 4) contacting the layer of the silicone oil with the solution, 5) evaluating at least one of the following parameters i), ii) and iii) : i) the adsorption of the compounf of interest on the layer of the silicone oil, ii) the degradation of the compound of the interest, iii) the degradation of the layer of the silicone oil.
