A power tool comprises: a housing; an output member at least partially contained in the housing and configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis; a motor contained in the housing and drivably connected to the output member to impart rotary motion thereto; and a rotational motion sensor arranged in the housing and operable to detect rotational motion of the housing, from a first reference orientation of the housing, about the longitudinal axis of the output member. A controller is also located in the housing, the controller configured to receive a signal indicative of the rotational motion from the rotational motion sensor and, in response to the signal, to drive the motor to rotate the output member. The power tool also includes a reset switch configured to reset the rotational motion sensor to a second reference orientation of the housing, which is different to the first reference orientation, upon actuation of the reset switch, the second reference orientation then being the reference orientation from which the rotational motion sensor is operable to detect the rotational motion of the housing. |

A power tool includes a motor, a light unit, and a switch unit for selectively connecting the motor and the light unit to the power source. A control module includes a controller coupled to a first electronic switch to control power delivery to the motor based on a position of the switch unit, and coupled to a second electronic switch to control power delivery to the light source based on a position of the switch unit. The controller also includes a timer configured to keep the light unit illuminated for a predetermined amount of time after the switch unit has been activated or deactivated. The control module also includes a boot circuit connected to the controller. The boot circuit includes a semiconductor switch configured to continue to deliver power to the controller and to the light unit when the switch unit is deactivated subsequent to being activated, to enable the light unit to remain illuminated after the switch unit has been deactivated. |

A handheld power tool is configured to receive an input indicative of a clutch setting for an electronic clutch from the tool operator, where the clutch setting is selectable from a drill mode, an automated drive mode and one or more user-defined drive modes. Each of the user-defined drive modes specifies a different value of torque at which to interrupt transmission of torque to the output spindle. In an automated drive mode, the controller interrupt torque to the output spindle in an automated manner when a fastener being driven reaches a desired stopping position. In a selected one of the user-defined drive modes, the controller sets a value of a maximum current threshold in accordance with the selected one of the user-defined drive modes and interrupts torque to the output spindle when current measurements exceeding the maximum current threshold. |
