In an electronic control unit, if it is determined that an engine is in an operation region to operate a compressor in a surge region, a target turbine opening area for preventing the compressor surge is calculated by using an arithmetic expression that is acquired by replacing a variable turbine with a physical model based on a throttle expression, and an opening of the variable turbine is set at an opening degree that corresponds to the target turbine opening area. In this way, the compressor surge is reliably prevented. |

A catalyst temperature is reliably maintained to be equal to or lower than a damaging temperature in accordance with an operation state of an internal combustion engine. A reference EGR rate is calculated on the basis of a speed and a load of an engine when ignition timing is not retarded (S100) . Next, a protection EGR rate that is required to maintain temperatures of exhaust system components within an allowable limit temperature range is calculated in accordance with an ignition timing retardation amount (S110) . When the protection EGR rate is higher than the reference EGR rate, within a range that an EGR rate does not exceed a stable combustion maximum allowable EGR rate calculated in consideration of a torque fluctuation allowable limit (S120), EGR control is executed by using the protection EGR rate (S130 to S170) . In this way, even when the ignition timing is retarded, an increase in an exhaust temperature is suppressed and prevented, and the temperatures of the exhaust system components are reliably maintained to be equal to or lower than the damaging temperature. |

A supercharging pressure control system that controls supercharging pressure in a diesel engine with a supercharger includes: a deviation computation section that computes a deviation between actual supercharging pressure and target supercharging pressure; a proportional control term computation section that computes a proportional control term used to change an operation amount of a variable nozzle turbo vane in proportion to the deviation; an integral control term computation section that computes an integral control term being used to change the operation amount of the variable nozzle turbo vane in proportion to time integration of the deviation; and an operation amount computation section that adds the proportional control term and the integral control term to compute the operation amount. The integral control term computation section initializes the time integration of the deviation to a specified value and computes the integral control term at a time point at which a combustion mode of an NOx occlusion-reduction catalyst starts being shifted from a rich combustion mode to a lean combustion mode. |
