A hearing aid and a method for operating a hearing aid is disclosed. The hearing aid comprises a signal processor for processing one or more audio signals to compensate a hearing loss of a user of the hearing aid; a wireless communications unit connected to the signal processor for wireless data communication; and an antenna system with a data terminal and at least one control terminal, wherein the data terminal is connected to the wireless communications unit, the antenna system comprising a first antenna and one or more antenna feeds including a first antenna feed. Further, the antenna system comprises an antenna configurator for configuring the antenna system to operate in a selected antenna mode selected from a plurality of antenna modes including a first antenna mode and a second antenna mode according to a control signal on the at least one control terminal, wherein the antenna configurator is configured to apply a first antenna configuration to the data terminal when operating in the first antenna mode, and to apply a second antenna configuration to the data terminal when operating in the second antenna mode. |

The present invention relates in a first aspect to a method of determining an objective perceptual quantity of a noisy speech signal using directional sound information. The method comprises steps of applying a noisy speech signal comprising a mixture of target speech and interfering noise to a first hearing instrument with an adjustable microphone arrangement and controlling the adjustable microphone arrangement to produce first and second predetermined directivity patterns exhibiting first and second directivity indexes, respectively, wherein said second directivity index is smaller than the first directivity index at one or more reference frequencies. First and second noisy speech segments are recorded from the adjustable microphone arrangement using the first and second predetermined directivity patterns, respectively, and at least one value of the objective perceptual quantity of the noisy speech signal is determined by comparing the first noisy speech segment and the second noisy speech segment. |

The present invention relates to a multi-band signal processor comprising a signal input for receipt of a digital audio input signal and a cascade of digital all-pass filters configured for receipt of the digital audio input signal and generation of M delayed digital audio signal samples at respective tapping nodes interposed between the digital all-pass filters. The multi-band signal processor comprises a signal convolution processor configured for convolving the M delayed digital audio signal samples with M time-varying filter coefficients of a processing filter to produce a processed digital output signal. A frequency domain transform processor is configured for converting the M delayed digital audio signal samples to frequency domain representation to produce respective signal spectrum values in a predetermined number of frequency bands, N. A level estimator is configured to compute respective signal level estimates in the predetermined number of frequency bands based on the respective signal spectrum values. A processing gain calculator of the multi-band signal processor is configured for computation of a frequency domain gain coefficient for each of the predetermined number of frequency bands based on the respective signal level estimates and band gain laws. An inverse frequency domain transform processor is configured for conversion of the N frequency domain gain coefficients into the M time-varying filter coefficients of the processing filter. The frequency domain transform processor is configured to compute signal spectrum values of at least two different frequency bands at different band update rates. Each of M and N is a positive integer number. |
