An aerosol generating device according to an embodiment includes a battery removably arranged in a battery accommodating unit and having unique identification information, a battery monitor configured to obtain operation information of the battery, a memory storing a plurality of state of health (SOH) calculation profiles, and a controller configured to obtain identification information and operation information of a battery mounted in the battery accommodating unit and calculate an SOH of the battery mounted in the battery accommodating unit based on an SOH calculation profile corresponding to the identification information, from among the plurality of SOH calculation profiles, and the operation information.

An aerosol generating device according to an embodiment includes a heater configured to heat an aerosol generating article, a removable battery including at least one removable battery cell, and a control unit configured to determine a heating mode of the heater based on the number of battery cells and a coupling method between the battery cells.

An aerosol generating device according to an embodiment includes a heater configured to heat a cigarette, a temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature of the heater, and a controller configured to calculate a temperature rise time of the cigarette by using the temperature sensor and compare the calculated temperature rise time of the cigarette with a preset threshold value to determine a humidity state of the cigarette. A method for determining whether a susceptor is changed, according to one embodiment, may comprise the operations of: applying a first signal to a coil of a heater so as to generate an alternating magnetic field having a first frequency; determining a first value of an electrical characteristic of the susceptor indicated by the first signal; applying a second signal to the coil of the heater so as to generate an alternating magnetic field having a second frequency; determining a second value of an electrical characteristic of the susceptor indicated by the second signal; and determining whether the susceptor is a changed susceptor, on the basis of the first value and the second value.
