Zusammenfassung
An aerofoil blade or vane for the turbine of a gas turbine engine is provided. The blade or vane includes an aerofoil portion which, in use, extends radially across a working gas annulus of the engine. A coolant inlet is formed at an end of the aerofoil portion for entry of a flow of cooling air into the aerofoil portion. A corresponding coolant exhaust is formed at the trailing edge of the aerofoil portion for the flow of spent cooling air from the aerofoil portion. A passage within the aerofoil portion connects the inlet to the exhaust. The blade or vane further includes a fence within the aerofoil portion. The fence extends radially and forwardly from a start position at said end of the aerofoil portion adjacent the trailing edge to an end position. The passage forms a loop which extends along one side of the fence, wraps around the end position, and extends along the other side of the fence to connect the inlet to the exhaust. |

A fan containment system (200, 400) for fitment around an array of radially extending fan blades mounted on a hub in an axial gas turbine engine. The fan containment system comprises a fan case having an annular casing element (252,452) for encircling an array of fan blades and a hook (254, 454) projecting in a generally radially inward direction from the annular casing element. The fan containment system further includes an annular fan track liner (256, 456) comprising a plurality of adjacent arcuate fan track liner panels. Each of the plurality of fan track liner panels is connected to the fan case at the hook via one or more fasteners (266, 466) configured to permit movement of the fan track liner panel relative to the hook such that the fan track liner panel can pivot towards the annular casing element when a released fan blade impacts the fan track liner panel. |

A method of connecting three-dimensional structured meshes to form a conformal mesh, for solutions of flow problems, comprising: - forming an interface by overlaying surfaces of two structured meshes; - defining an interface set of mesh points in the interface; - merging mesh points in the interface set that are within a predetermined distance of each other and projecting mesh points of one mesh in the interface that are within a predetermined distance of a line of the other mesh; - generating an interface layer in the form of an unstructured mesh; and - inserting a node at the centre of each hexahedra, and producing an unstructured layer of cells between the two structured meshes by joining the nodes to the mesh points of the interface layer. This method ensures a thin unstructured layer with no hanging nodes. |
